Well this is meta. So last year (and, actually, the year before that as well) I built a simple synthesizer from a kit that I ordered from Music From Outer Space – a synth DIY site with lots of fun, nerdy synth projects to sink your gear teeth into. I let my good friend Shetu film some of it for her Never Have I Ever series (which I’ve profiled before on this site). It was fun! I like building things with my own hands, and learning about the components of an analogue synthesizer and how they all connect was fascinating to me.
Shetu has started posting some of her work on YouTube, and when mine went up I guess one thing led to another and it wound up getting featured on the site Sythtopia and now has more than 6,000 views. Crazy! I’m grateful for the supportive comments on the YouTube video and the site. To all the people out there fiddling with resistors and capacitors, I say: Keep it up!
